11-Day Safari: Murchison Falls, Chimp Trekking & Gorilla

Day 1: Warm welcome to the Pearl of Africa. :

Depending on your arrival time, you will be met and assisted at the airport before being driven to a hotel in Entebbe for the night. Kampala is an alternative option. Overnight at Protea by Marriot/No.5(up market)/Gately Inn /Entebbe guest house(mid-range)

Day 2: Transfer to Kampala for a City tour/cultural evening depending on the day of the week. :

After breakfast, get ready for a 4-hour city tour of Kampala (4 hours city walk), which includes visits at the Gaddafi mosque, the main marketplaces (Owino, Nakasero, crafts), and city monuments (the Independence Monument, the Stride, the crested Crane Statue, and Edward Mutesa). Since cultural activities are only available on certain days of the week, you will enjoy a cultural night in the evening at the Ndere Cultural Center depending on the day of the week. Return to the hotel and spend the night at the Cassia Lodge (Mid-range) or Kampala Serena Hotel (Up-Market) Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are on the menu.

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. :

Wake up early in the morning and prepare for breakfast, after the guide will pick you up from your hotel of residence for a drive to Murchison Falls National Park- Uganda’s biggest Park. Drive through Luwero Triangle continue to Nakasongola stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track white rhinos, view them from a safe distance at the same time see a variety of bird species and enjoy the nature walk. Thereafter, you shall have lunch within the sanctuary before proceeding to Murchison Falls National Park for overnight at Chobe Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge (Up- Market)/Pakuba Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge(mid-range) Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 4: Game drive and launch cruise. :

Wake up early morning for a game drive return to the lodge for breakfast and relax. PM: launch cruise to the bottom of the falls, this exposes you to some of the wildlife species such as Buffaloes, Elephants Elands, Kobs, and many more with lots of bird species on the banks of the Nile like the Giant African fin foot, white-tailed warbler, silver bird and many others after hiking top of the falls and this requires a little bit of energy to hike top of the falls as you have a glance at the falls with the beautiful views of other wildlife species take photos to remark your Murchison falls safari and later proceed with a game drive and later check in at the lodge for Dinner and overnight at Chobe Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge(Up-Market)/Pakuba Safari Lodge(mid-range) Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park :

After a leisurely breakfast in the morning, leave the park and drive to the delta along Lake Albert to the escarpment area for a fantastic view of the Great Western Rift Valley. From there, continue to Hoima with a brief stopover for leg stretching before continuing to drive to Fort Portal for lunch. On the way to Kyenjojo town, the trip passes through Kagadi town, where you’ll see the indigenous architectural styles and tea plantations in addition to catching a glimpse of the Rwenzori Mountains. go to the lodge for check in with dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Kibaale Chimp trekking and Magombe swamp visit :

After early morning breakfast, drive to Kibale National Park (29km) KANYANCHU visitor’s center for the briefing by the UWA park rangers about the Chimpanzee trekking experience at 8:00 Am in the morning, after we enter the forest in search of the chimps which are the next cousin of a man sharing 98% DNA with human and this will take about (1-5 hours trekking). After we retire for lunch and relaxation later walk to Magombe swamp in Bigodi wetland for a birding paradise with over 200 bird species among the most well-known is the great Blue Turaco (Corythaeola Cristata) and primates like monkeys, baboons, red colobus, black & white colobus, blue monkey, grey-cheeked mangabey, vervet monkey, red tailed monkey, L’Hoest monkey, and community visit. Dinner and overnight

Day 7: Visit Ihimba Hot springs-Kibale National Park :

When one takes a bath in these breathtaking hot springs, they are said to have miraculous healing powers that can relieve rheumatism, backaches, and other discomforts. Ihimba is the name of a local Bahima tribe. Learn more about their fascinating history, culture, and religious practices.

Day 8: Game drive through Ishasha sector and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest N/P :

Wakeup early in the morning for breakfast and later proceed with a game drive out of the park heading to Bwindi’s impenetrable forest National Park through the great Ishasha sector famous for tree climbing lions here you might be able to catch a few on some of the lions and take photos and have lunch at the Ishasha sector after continue with the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park via Kabale the Switzerland of Africa as you have a view of the beautiful terraced hills and later check in at the lodge, dinner and overnight. Day 9: Gorilla trekking experience. :

After an early breakfast, at 08:00 am we drive to the UWA headquarters for a briefing prior to meeting the guides as well as separating into groups based on which gorilla group you will be tracking. Gorilla tracking entails climbing and hiking Observing them only a few meters away from the baby with the mothers, the gorillas partaking in their everyday routine just right in front of you is an overwhelming and once-in-a-lifetime experience., return to the lodge Ruhija sector -Kiho Lodge(up-Market)/Engagi Lodge(mid-range)

Day 10: Mubwindi swamp Trail in Ruhija area & transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. :

Wake up for morning fantastic 4-5 hours trail hike going through the jungles, slopes, and the magical rainforest with breathtaking viewpoints along the way of rich valleys and Virunga massif. While on the trail you are likely to encounter some primates, especially the Chimpanzees and monkeys, a number of bird species, forest elephants, on lucky day even mountain gorillas and bush pigs. For the Mubwindi trail, one needs authorization from the Uganda Wildlife Authority as it is within the forest area. This is a favorable and perfect adventure for bird watchers. Thereafter we go for lunch and later drive to Lake Mburo National Park with a night break in Mburo National Park for dinner and overnight. Day 11: Morning game drives and Transfer to Entebbe Airport. :

Early morning, you will go for a game drive and search for early risers and other wildlife species such as birds like the Giant African fin foot bird, Abyssinian ground hornbill, occasional African wattled lapwing, Black-bellied bustard, Greater painted-snipe, Saddle-billed stork. Return for lunch and relaxation. Later transfer with a brief stopover at Kayabwe Equator Station where the world’s North Pole and South Pole meet for an equator experience take photos carrying your last memories about the Uganda safari and continue to the Airport for our flight back home.
