9 Days 8 Nights Uganda's Primates Safari
Arrival at the Pearl of Africa International Airport. (1 hour) On arrival at Uganda National Airport at Entebbe you will be met and welcomed by our company guide and representative and later transferred to the hotel of residence for check-in and refreshments, with dinner and overnight either in Kampala depending on your flight time. Lodging: Serena Hotel(Up Market) / Cassia Lodge (mid-range).
Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. (6-7hours) Our driver-guide shall pick you up from the hotel in the morning and set off for Kibale Forest National Park. Arrive in Kibale in the evening and check in at the accommodation. In the evening you shall go out for a walk on the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary where you shall observe a variety of wildlife. Situated on the eastern edge of the Kibale forest, Bigodi Wetland supports up to 8 species of primates most of which are monkeys, namely Black-and-white Colobus, Red Colobus, Mangabey, Red-tailed, Vervet and L’Hoest’s. Other mammals that live on the wetland are baboons, Sitatunga, bush pigs, civet cats, mongooses, and bushbucks. Occasionally Chimps do cross over to the wetland from the Kibale Forest. The bird lover will enjoy this tour the most as the wetland hosts more than 200 species of birds. Butterflies too are in plenty! Return to the lodge in the evening, have dinner, and overnight. Chimp tracking Experience and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Wake up early morning with a packed breakfast and report to the UWA center at Kanyancu station for a briefing from the Park rangers about the chimp tracking experience at 8:00 am. After proceeding to the forest in search of the beautiful primates that share 98% percent DNA with human beings here you are guided by an experienced guide along the trails which take between (1-5 hours). You will also be able to see some other wildlife species such as birds, butterflies, and other tree species found in the forest. Upon getting to the chimps you will take photos remarkable for your trip to Uganda after returning for lunch and relaxation at the lodge then after drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park (2 -3 hours) where you will reach with an evening game drive for checking in and refreshments at the Lodge with dinner and overnight. Morning game drive and afternoon launch cruise along Kazinga channel. Wake up early morning and head for the game drive with parked breakfast. Here you will be able to catch up with the early prey such as lions and leopards along the way and this will enable you to see some of the great panoramic views of the park and also see other wildlife and bird species. Also, visit the Katwe Salt Lake community and Lake Munyanyange famous for flamingos after retiring to the lodge for lunch and rest then proceed for an afternoon launch cruise along the Kazinga channel, and enjoy the unique 2-hour launch cruise on Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching, and game viewing, ideal for the Uganda safari. Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Park (4-5hours). Wake up early morning for breakfast and later proceed with a game drive through the great Ishasha sector famous for tree-climbing lions and here you might be able to catch a few on some of the lions and take photos and have lunch at the Ishasha sector after continue with the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via Kabale the Switzerland of Africa as you have a view of the beautiful terraced hills and later check in at the lodge, dinner, and overnight. Lodge: Buhoma Lodge (Up market) / Ichumbi Safari Lodge (Mid Range) Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner The tangled forested slopes of Bwindi provide shelter to one of Africa’s most diverse mammalian faunas, including 45% of the global mountain gorilla population. Unsurprisingly, the main tourist activity in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BIMP) is gorilla tracking, which was first established at the Buhoma Park headquarters in 1993, but now operates out of four trailheads – the others being Ruhija, Nkuringo, and Rushaga – all of which are serviced by a selection of tourist lodges. Today, 11 habituated (and three semi-habituated) Gorilla groups can be tracked in Bwindi, a thrilling but costly venture regarded by most who have undertaken it to be a true once-in-a-lifetime experience
Gorilla Tracking Experience (1-5hours). You will rise relatively early for a jovial breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking. Report to the ranger station at 08.00 am where the guides will take you through the forest, slashing at the undergrowth, panting thick creepers, to track gorillas. This trek can take from half an hour to five hours therefore a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. You will spend only one hour seeing the gorillas as you listen to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silverback. It is amazing to think that there are only 800 or so of these creatures left in the world! If you have the afternoon free, you will take a guided village amongst the locals. Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Wake early morning for breakfast and later transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with a greater view of the beautiful terraced hills of Kabale (Switzerland of Africa) and proceed with a journey up to Mbarara town with a brief stopover for lunch and leg stretching at Igongo cultural Museum after continuing with the drive to the park with an evening game drive which will expose you to various wildlife species such as Zebra’s Antelopes, Oribi, Heartbeat and lots of bird species may be seen along the way. After check in at the lodge for refreshments with dinner and overnight. Lodge: Mihingo Lodge (Up Market) / Rwakobo Rock Lodge (Mid range) Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Game drive and visit the salt lick transfer back to Kampala. Wake up early morning for breakfast and proceed to the park with a game drive that will expose you to various wild animals and birds then take photos for the trip and visit the salt lick where most of the animals gather for drinking water around the park. After retiring for lunch and relaxation at the lodge later continue with the drive back to Kampala via Masaka town with a brief stopover at the Kayabwe equator station where the world poles meet and photos carrying your last memories about Uganda, reaching Kampala late in the evening and go check to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
